About
The Valadiers were an internationally renowned family of craftsmen from Rome, producing objects of great inventiveness for over three generations during the 18th century. Andrea Valadier founded the workshop and Luigi and Giuseppe developed in different directions – the first inheriting his father’s workshop and the second becoming an architect.
We acquired a collection of about 350 Valadier workshop drawings, together with Giuseppe Valadier’s 1810 complete workshop inventory (ripresa dalla foto del regesto), which was sold to the Frick Collection in New York.
These were catalogued and published by Allemandi in The Art of the Valadiers (2017), edited by Professor Teresa Vale.
